The Kalahari
BUSHMAN SAFARI
A 12-day non-participation* mobile safari in the Magagikgadi, Kalahari and Okavango Delta. Accommodation is in tents, hotels and lodges.
Day 1
Depart from Gabarone by vehicle** for Serowe. Afternoon visit to the Ian Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Overnight in chalets at Lentswe Lodge, All meals included.
Day 2
We travel northwest to Letlhakane Sowa Pan, arriving at the famous Kubu Island mid-afternoon. We take an afternoon walk - this area consists mainly of salt pans with rich surrounding grassland, which attracts thousands of animals. In addition, the Boteti River, which flows occasionally, offers the animals an opportunity to quench their thirst in the perennial pools. The area is diverse in vegetation types, such as the palm tree woodland and Baobab islands. Zebra are common here. Overnight in tented camp at Kubu Island, all meals included.
Day 3
We enter the Magadikgadi National Park and search for the elusive Brown Hyena. Camp is erected beside the dry Boteti River - the seasonal pools are inhabited by hippopotamus. Overnight in tented camp, all meals included.
Days 4, 5 & 6
We journey into the Central Kalahari, one of the prime games viewing areas in Botswana. The flat grasslands teem with oryx and springbok, an incomparable sight. Lion, cheetah and jackal are plentiful. 3 nights in tented camp, all meals included.
Days 7 & 8
Depart for Maun. After lunch, our charter flight takes us into the Okavango Delta. We explore the Delta by mokoro and on game walks in the surrounding flood plains. 2 nights in tented chalets at Gunn’s Camp, all meals included.
Day 9
Afternoon air transfer to Maun. Overnight at Cresta Rileys Hotel, all meals included).
Days 10, 11 & 12
After the long drive to Xai Xai, we have the amazing opportunity of spending 2 days with the Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert. We will discover the survival skills that allow them to inhabit such an arid area. On the second morning, we visit Aha Hills where they show us their ancient paintings. 3 nights in tented camp, all meals included.
Day 13
Depart for Maun, arriving in time for your late afternoon flight.

Price includes accommodation and meals, 4x4 Vehicles, all necessary camping and kitchen equipment (sleeping bags must be pre-booked), the services of a professional English-speaking guide and camp staff, park and entry fees, charter flight into Gunn’s Camp and return, wine with dinner when camping.
Not included: international flights, travel insurance, drinks, sheet sleeping bag and towels, items of a personal nature, gratuities.
* Four camp staff pre-erect camp. The guide and staff members do all the camp chores and prepare the meals. Igloo tents are 2.4 m 2 and 1.9 m high, with stretcher beds.
